I write to rant today about the apparent Jim Crow activity already in practice in New York State.
I am a senior person, specifically a black female senior person and I have experienced what to me is overt Jim Crow activities in getting services ie telephone services. I have dealt with Verizon for as long as I can remember and I have never before experienced the deliberate unequal service as is happening now.
Ever since I signed up for bundling package with Verizon ALL OF MY COMMUNICATION SERVICES HAVE BEEN NON EXISTENT OR HAPHAZARD. My telephone wont call out, my internet doesnt connect and the television deprograms itself.
I get the same explanation every time. Its a machine so it may break down at times. My machine ie set top box. wont boot up, it takes out channels whenever, puts one or two back ie Cinemax 1 or 2 channels while 8 others are missing. It is a jumbled nightmare and Verizon cant or wont fix it.
The HBO disappeared and reappeared while we were talking. The representation told me it was a bad signal and I needed to take the wires out of the splitter and that was disrupt and stop the signal and allow them to unscramble and correct themselves? I never heard that one before. I was never told to take a any wires loose. I have been told to take the cord from the wall but never to find the splitter. I told her as a 67 year old person, I couldnt crawl around down on the floor and she needed to send a repair man to check it out. She said she was going to boost the signal outside and it would interrupt our call but she would call me back. The call was interrupted but I never got a call back. That was the second NON answer back in 1 hour.
I asked at one point if she was playing games with me because I thought I heard laughing in the background. She said she was really trying to help.
I have no confidence in Verizon because they seem to have no abilty to control the activity of their workers nor the ability to deliver the service they advertise. Verizon offers that which they will later claim are perks ie email service. I asked one Representative why the company advertises its multiple email benefits if it claims no responsibility to see that it works.
I think Verizon NEEDS TO BE MADE TO HOLD TO ITS ADVERTISING CLAIMS because when you accept a bundling package, you have in effect given Verizon control over every aspect of your communication abilty and they can disrupt your entire life if they fail to deliver good service. The Federal government needs to look into bundling to see if this is really good for the public.
One of my next experiences was having teeth pulled at the University of New York at Buffalo Dental department. I went there because Medicare doesnt cover dental so I have to pay out of pocket and the Dental School is cheaper. Many other people go there also and my former nursing coworkers used the school and were satisfied.
I expected to have students in attendance but never did I expect to be in Dr Mengele's clinic. One of my teeth was hard to extract. I understand that because my mother had the same problem. It was a major job to extract her teeth. The roots grew deep and it was an effort to get them out. Mine are somewhat similar and it takes some experience to extract them properly.
What bothered me was 4 people were in the room attending and all four took turns pulling my teeth. I felt like they were playing tag team in my mouth. I had to call a stop at one point. I told them I was catching hell and they had to hold up for a time. One of the male students was pushing on my jaw so hard, I felt he would dislocate it. I told him to stop that I thought he would dislocate it any minute. At no time was there a Resident doctor. Not before my teeth extraction nor after.
I had excessive bleeding for 3 days before I settled down. It may be that with so many incidents with Verizon and missing packages in the mail, I was a little paranoid and I might have had exaggerated emotions. I called and ask questions after I recovered and they gave me an appointment to make sure my mouth was healing properly. I seem to be ok.
Whatever reason, I am beginning to wonder if some deviant behavior is at hand. Is there some separate but equal shenanigans going on. I think I may be getting SEPARATE treatment but it certainly is NOT EQUAL. I dont mind students as I was one myself but I do want ADEQUATE and responsible care whenever I need a medical procedure done to me. I dont want games being played with my body. I dont want to be the target of some sadistic opportunist or racist.
Some time back, one black elderly lady friend of my sister, had a pin in her hip torn out of place when a male physiotherapist forced her leg PAST its safe extension even WHILE SHE WAS EXCLAIMING OF PAIN. She had to go back to surgery and get it redone. I dont know what the outcome of her daughters complaint to administration, but her mother died some months laster. It is beyond me to understand how this therapist would stretch this old lady's leg past past its natural range. It had to be deliberately done.
One black elderly man, using a cane, was coming out the doctors office and a man going in knocked him over. The elderly man ended up in the hospital where he died a couple of weeks later.
There are many incidents of this nature, most having to do with the medical profession and most involving elderly black people either being injured or dying as a result of some incident in a medical scenario.
I dont know what the hell is going on but its upsetting me no end. I wonder if there is some hidden agenda here. One or two bizarre incidents you can call coincidence. In repeated incidents you look for a causal factor.
Are senior blacks targets for hate crime activity. I dont know but I feel the need to write about what is happening and make a record of it.
No one can deny the atmosphere in this nation since President Obama was elected is not PRO black and could be some encouragement is occurring to cull the herd so to speak.
There have been MULTIPLE deaths occurring in this area so much so that it is the topic of conversation for many people.
I think a watchful eye needs to be kept on this area of New York State.
